Reasoning With Democratic Values 2: Ethical Issues In American History is a two volume, supplementary textbook for students of American history.
Although the events in the book took place in the past, the core democratic values examined continue to influence our lives. We believe that citizens of today must often make decisions involving these same values. That is why we have written this book.
Rational, responsible citizens face value issues and think carefully about them. Therefore we have presented you with questions and activities that will engage you in such thinking. We also think the stories will help you gain a deeper understanding of the nation's remarkable history.
The book is to be published in June of 2018 by Teachers College Press, Teachers College, Columbia University.
Volume 1 (1607-1865)
Volume 2 (1866-Present)
